He holds us

These days everything is pretty uncertain and no one is sure what’s truly happening and what’s going to happen. People are realizing they don’t have control and it’s scaring them. The theme among many believers (as often arises during tough times) is how we desperately need to cry out to Jesus during the rough times. That Jesus is our friend in times of need. But I want to point us back to the fact that we need Him ALL the time. Not just in the scary, unknown, coronavirus times... we need Him for every breathe. And we don’t simply need to hold tighter to Jesus, but know that He is the one holding us… ALL the time. We couldn’t hold on tight enough if our lives depended on it. He sustains and holds us… we don’t have an ounce of strength enough to even hold His hand if we tried. We really aren’t quite as great as we think we are. He is the one who deserves every ounce of Glory.

A great speaker named Voddie Bauchum gives an example for us to better understand this:

He was once walking in a storm with his sweet little daughter. As the storm picked up, lightning flashed across the sky, rain pounded down and a wild wind howled. With every flash that sweet little girl’s grasp on her dad’s hand grew tighter and tighter as they rushed down the sidewalk to get home. Her hold grew stronger but as the wind picked up she was soon scooped up in her father’s arms and carried, because he knew that no matter how scared she got and tight she held on… she couldn’t hold on tight enough to not be blown away. She simply wasn’t strong enough. He, as the stronger one, had to pick her up.

We can never grasp His hand tight enough to not be swept away. We simple don’t have the strength. In every moment its HIM holding us. He carries us through not just the hard times, but through every moment of this life.

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities; all things were created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.”

Colossians 1:15-18

He holds our very beings together. I am so incredibly grateful that He does. I cannot imagine if it were left up to me for even a moment. Without Him, weak wretches is simply all we are.

“In Him we live and move and have our being,…”

Acts 17:18

It hurts my heart when believers want to take most of the Glory for themselves. If they just call out to Jesus enough and hold close to Him, they are okay. True, He is our refuge and we should be heading to His word and be on our knees before Him, but we must thank Him for the fact that we are even doing those things, because that was Him. Drawing us near to Himself with His glorious saving grace. What a sweet and loving Father we have.

“The spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.”

Job 33:4

“Yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.”

1 Corinthians 8:6

So lets open our bibles and read of His goodness and be HELD by our ever loving and merciful Father.
